About

Heritage Visits is a practical guide to visiting heritage sites: museums, castles and palaces, cathedrals, abbeys, archaeological sites and landmarks. For each place, it answers the questions you have before going: how to get a ticket, how far ahead to book, when to come and what not to miss.

What you will find here

  • A page for each place, with its official ticket office first, prices for the current year, opening hours and booking rules.
  • Pages for the major works, with where they are actually on display and the date this was checked.
  • City pages that bring together the places to visit, the city passes and the exhibitions of the month.
  • Guides on the questions that come up most: free days, passes, tickets that sell out early.

Independent and checked

The site is independent of the museums, monuments and ticket offices it describes. The information comes from official sources and is dated, as explained on our How we check page. Photographs are real photographs of the places, most of them from Wikimedia Commons, each with its author and licence. Pages are published in English, French, Spanish and German.
