Photographs of places are real photographs. Most come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences that allow commercial use (CC BY, CC BY-SA, CC0, public domain). A few come from the press kits of the places themselves and remain the property of their owners. Each photo carries its author and licence, and the full list, with a link to the source page of every photo, is in the “Photo credits” section below. Works of art are reproduced only when they are in the public domain or when a licence allows it. No image of a real place or a real work on this site is generated by artificial intelligence.
Maps use data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL), with map tiles from OpenFreeMap and OpenMapTiles. Facts about each place come from the sources listed on its page, first among them the museum, monument or body that manages it. The names and logos of places are cited for information only: they imply no partnership, and this site is not an official ticket office.
Official ticket offices and affiliate links
On every page, the first booking link is the official ticket office of the place, whether or not it earns us anything. The site also links to external websites: museums, monuments, tourist offices and booking platforms. Some links to guided tours, tickets sold by partners or accommodation can be affiliate links: if you book through them, the site may receive a commission, at no extra cost to you. When that is the case, the page says so before the first such link. Commissions never decide which places we cover nor what we write about them. Details are on our How we check page.
Limitation of liability
Prices, opening hours, booking rules and the display status of works are checked against the official sources and dated, but they can change after our last check: a museum can close a wing, a quota can appear, a painting can leave for a loan or a restoration. This information is given for guidance only. The publisher cannot guarantee that it is accurate or complete and is not liable for the use made of it. Before you set off, check the official website of the place.
Heritage Visits is an independent guide. It is not affiliated with any museum, monument, ticket office or tourist office it describes.
