How to use this map of museums and monuments

Each marker on this map of museums and monuments is a place with a published page, placed from the coordinates checked for the guide. The filters narrow the map by type of place, from museums to archaeological sites, and by country, and the search finds a place by name. The list beside the map follows what you see and updates with every filter. A click on a marker or on a line of the list opens the page of the place: the official ticket office, who enters free, the opening hours and what not to miss.

What the map shows today

The map covers Rome, the Vatican and France. On the Roman side, the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine stand next to each other and share one ticket, the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain both belong to the historic center, and the Galleria Borghese sits in the park of Villa Borghese. In the Vatican, the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica form one cluster: the chapel is reached through the museums and the basilica is entered from St. Peter’s Square. In France, seven places gather in Paris, from the Arc de Triomphe to the Catacombs, Chambord, Chenonceau and Fontevraud follow the Loire, Carcassonne, the Pont du Gard and Sénanque lie in the south, and Chartres, Cluny and Carnac each stand on their own. The map shows at a glance what can share a day and what deserves one.
