The free museum days this agenda holds
Each month lists the free entry days of the places of the guide in Rome and the Vatican, with the condition attached to each one, as published by the place itself.

Two rhythms stand out. The Italian state sites open free on the first Sunday of the month: the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine, with tickets handed out in order of arrival, the Pantheon, where everyone queues for a free ticket, and the Galleria Borghese, where a reservation and its fee stay due. The Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel included, open free on the last Sunday of the month, with a shorter day and a few excluded dates.
A temporary exhibition enters the agenda once one of these places has announced it and its dates have been checked. Today the months show the free days. Every line comes from the official page of the place and carries the date of its last check.
How to use it
- Open the page of the place before you go: a free day can still require a ticket or a booking, and some parts of a site stay closed on free Sundays.
- Check the official page linked on each line for the final word on dates.
- St. Peter’s Basilica is free every day, and the Trevi Fountain ticket stays due on first Sundays.
